Musical Review

Well they said they would Rock us, and they certainly did at the hit musical written by Queen and Ben Elton.

We Will Rock You was a feast for the eyes with elaborate lighting scenes that ensured a futuristic feel. The cast clearly selected for vocal ability told a story of the future with a playlist of Queens well known songs.

The plot was full of humour and saw the 'dreamer' take on Global Soft.  They wanted to keep control of people’s minds and had banned making music and instruments in a bid to stop free will. The cast were true professionals who looked to be enjoying every minute.

Hull New Theatre opened in 1939 with Noel Gay's 'Me and My Girl' and recently had a £16m revamp which means it can host the larger shows as the stage was extended.

The character of the building has been retained and it has a warm and welcoming feel. The seats are well positioned and allow audiences to really see and enjoy the performances. We were seated in the Circle and could clearly view all the details of the performers, costumes and set. Hunts Coaches have good relationships with venues and source the best show tickets and provide local Lincolnshire Coach pick-up points. This is why so many choose to book theatre and concert trips with them. Its quick and convenient to book by visiting the website, telephone call or in person. If you are thinking of organising a trip for a large group, they can do this too.

Getting to the Theatre was easy, we got on the coach at Osbourne Street in Grimsby and travelled in comfort. Our driver (Dave) provided all the information we needed and issued the theatre tickets onboard. We were dropped off directly outside the theatre and had time to sit back with a drink in the bar. We enjoyed seeing everyone chatting, having fun and dressed for the occasion. Some of our group enjoyed a bite to eat too. The theatre has all the facilities you would expect with an increasingly diverse show list and in a great location near to local restaurants and shops. If you haven't visited, what are you waiting for?

The next day trip to this theatre is for Les Miserables showing on the stage 21 November for a matinee performance with time to enjoy Hull before the show. Click Here for more information.

Why you should keep choosing coach travel

It is a sad truth that over the years we have lost many local coach companies, the likes of Barnards Coaches, Skegness Travel, Lawtons Coaches and Tourmaster Coaches are now a thing of the past.

These companies served local people across Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire, Cambridgeshire and the surrounding areas, providing holidays across the whole of the UK, minibus hire and more.

Often coach companies are small family-run operations, many therefore close with retirement or no one to continue the legacy.

Coach travel for day-trippers & holidaymakers seeking a social experience and views along the way is a must. Travelling as a group is an experience in itself, meeting new friends and sharing in different experiences. Many make lifelong friends with those they are sat near to on coach holidays and enjoy sharing in the experience with like-minded people. This sets coach travel apart from the rest.

Coach travel is also convenient, often the stress of organising a trip is enough to put people off exploring. When there is a car trip, parking, bus to the airport, plane then another transfer on the other side, you can spend a full day not really achieving anything. Travelling by coach means you are picked up from a local and convenient place and that is it. The adventure starts from the moment you board. Along the way, you can share in the views, sit back and relax without a care in the world. It is also one of the most carbon-efficient (green) ground transport methods for groups of passengers.

Hunts Coaches are approaching their 90th year of serving Lincolnshire people with fabulous coach holidays, minibus hire, day excursions, theatre and concert experiences. We are also forever growing our valued customer base, so if you're looking for a new travel partner for your next adventure. Look no further.

Days out in Nottingham

If you have ever wondered what the City of Nottingham has to offer, wonder no more. Nottingham is a city rich with history and is most well known for Robin Hood. The place has a thriving independent shopping scene and some great exhibits and art galleries too.

Centuries in the making, the legend of Sherwood continues to grow, with every generation adding to its legacy. See the ancient woodland and Major Oak, estimated to be around 1,000 years old. The visitor centre is full of information and resources to bring the place to life.

2. City of Caves.

What is it? A hidden maze of over 500 original sandstone caves underneath the streets of Nottingham dating back to the dark ages. Why go? A chance to investigate the social history of the caves and learn more about the events that happened here. People even sought refuge in the Anderson air-raid shelter during World War 2. The entrance is behind the Nottingham Contemporary Art Gallery.

3. Nottingham Contemporary Art Gallery.

What is it? One of the most inspiring galleries's in the UK exhibiting international art. Why go? Designed by the award-winning architects Caruso St. John it stands in the heart of the City. Free to enter and regularly changing exhibitions.

What is it? See the ruins of a castle with a long history perched upon an impressive lump of rock containing caves. Why go? Nottingham Castle has a troubled history. Starting in the Middle Ages, when a grand fortress stood on the site. This was demolished and replaced with a Mansion (also demolished), followed by the Ducal Mansion you can now see here. However, the transformation of the Castle is currently taking place with renovation work to develop it into a world-class heritage destination for 2020. So you might want to pencil it in the diary for the year ahead.

We offer coach day trips to Nottingham including concerts at Nottingham Arena from a selection of Lincolnshire pick up points!
